Over 100 lawsuits against Norton's warranty companies (Veritas, CarGuard, Red Auto/Red Shield) for denied claims and illegal robocalls, 2018 to 2026.

At least 25 illegal-robocall lawsuits have been filed over calls made for Norton's warranty companies, and at least 12 of them settled.

Norton says he left CarGuard in 2019, but his 2022 U.S. House financial disclosure lists a 51% stake and a salary.

In a lawsuit filed 9/18/2023, a customer alleged that he paid Veritas $6,650 for a warranty, that the company replaced his engine with a used one and called it new, then denied the next claim citing a 'foreign object' a mechanic said was impossible.

At least two lawsuits name Elijah Norton personally as a defendant, including a federal robocall case filed in 2019, the year he says he left CarGuard, which settled and was dismissed with prejudice. A second suit, filed in Oregon in 2024, has no outcome recorded in our source.

34 police calls for service to two homes Norton owned, in Scottsdale (owned 2021 to 2024) and Phoenix (owned 2024 to 2026), counting every logged call except burglar-alarm activations and dispatcher administrative entries: 20 in Scottsdale, 14 in Phoenix.

In a defamation lawsuit Veritas filed in federal court in March 2026, the company told the court in its own complaint that "Elijah Norton is its President, sole director, and sole shareholder." The case was still open as of 8/26/2026.

Norton has put more than $7 million of his own money into his own campaigns. His 2022 congressional committee, Norton for Congress, reported $4,700,000 in loans from him and $109,097.32 in contributions from him, and spent $5,400,811.57 that cycle. His Arizona Treasurer committee, Friends of Elijah Norton, reported $2,350,000 in loans from him and $51,500 in personal contributions through March 31, 2026, and $1,154,018.99 spent to that date. Through June 30, 2026, the Treasurer committee also reported paying $1,400,000 back to him; the $7 million figure holds net of that repayment.

Norton for Congress reported $4,772,612.36 in debts owed by the committee on its termination report, covering through 10/22/2025 and amended 1/30/2026. All of it was loans from Norton himself: $4,700,000, $5,000 and $67,612.36. The FEC accepted the termination on 2/9/2026; its approval letter asked the committee for a statement signed by Norton that the loans were forgiven. No repayment appears on any report. The committee never repaid him.

Norton's firm left a valid consumer court judgment unpaid for nearly two years. The customer had to domesticate the California judgment in Arizona and file an enforcement action to collect.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch identified Norton as former chief executive of Home Safe Financial Assistance, where at least 200 of 300 to 400 paying clients paid for mortgage work never performed. Norton and the owner defended the company to the paper and said they had modified 50 to 70 mortgages. He resigned as registered agent 17 days before the story ran. The owner later pleaded guilty to mail fraud. Norton was not charged.

In a 2016 Scottsdale case, Norton was charged with criminal speeding for exceeding the speed limit by 20 to 45 mph, and seemingly received a sweet plea deal when the reckless driving charge was dismissed the same day under a plea agreement. In July 2018 he was charged in Phoenix on five counts, three of them driving under the influence, including one count of driving under the influence of a dangerous drug or its metabolite (A.R.S. 28-1381(A)(3), which covers any drug listed in A.R.S. 13-3401 or its metabolite; that section's dangerous-drug list includes methamphetamine, MDMA and ketamine; the charge names no substance); all five counts were dismissed. Four more speeding cases were filed during this campaign, between May and July 2026, two in Scottsdale and two in Phoenix. The May 2026 Scottsdale case was dismissed without prejudice on 9/17/2026 after two failures to appear; the other three had no disposition as of the 9/20/2026 docket read.

Norton has proposed a constitutional amendment to move the state's audit authority into the Treasurer's office, the office he is running for.

Norton's campaign site promises to "divest from woke and leftist causes" with Arizona's money, while the same site's action plan says investments should go to companies that are "not politicized" on either side of the aisle.

Where states have written political tests into public investing, their pension plans have earned less: plans in states with divestment mandates returned about 40 basis points less per year, an association measured across states, not a proven cause.

$1.4 million more to Republican party committees and their funds since 2020, on top of his giving to individual candidates: over $1 million to the Republican Party of Arizona LLC since December 2023, including $140,000 given while he listed himself as the party's treasurer, plus its county and district committees, the legislature's Republican victory funds, and Republican joint fundraising committees.

More than $100,000 of Norton's personal political donations went to election deniers: $58,900 to Donald Trump's campaign and his 2020 joint fundraising committee, $12,400 to Paul Gosar, $8,300 to Anthony Kern, $5,300 to Abraham Hamadeh, $5,300 to Kelly Townsend, $5,000 to Wendy Rogers, $3,500 to Alexander Kolodin and $2,500 to Mark Finchem. Each of the eight publicly rejected or acted to overturn the 2020 presidential result, or, in Hamadeh's case, his own 2022 loss.

32 Republicans signed an open letter opposing Norton, including three sitting county treasurers, a former county treasurer, a former congressman and two state representatives, with 10 numbered allegations of financial irresponsibility.

The sitting State Treasurer, Kimberly Yee, endorsed Norton's opponent Katherine Haley, citing trust. Three former state treasurers endorsed Haley as well.

Norton signed the Arizona Republican Party's year-end 2022 report showing $151,085.55 in federal cash and zero reported debts, later said the party was saved from bankruptcy, and in April 2024, after two FEC requests for additional information, amended six months of reports to disclose $75,000 of rent the party had not reported owing. No finding, enforcement action or audit followed.

Asked about Proposition 123, one of the biggest financial questions facing the Treasurer's office, Norton said he was not familiar with the details. He said he would trust Kimberly Yee, who went on to endorse his opponent. A year later he called the governor's proposed withdrawal rate "absolutely ridiculous" but refused to say what rate he would support.

In his own public Google review of an Oregon state financial regulator, Norton wrote that it is "filled with socialist, anti-business bureaucrats," questioned their salaries, and wrote "I wish someone would fire everyone in that office and replace them with common sense business-oriented individuals."

After a Washington consumer complained that his repair claim was denied, the state Insurance Commissioner found Norton's company had sold a vehicle service contract there without being registered, and fined it. The company then went to federal court to stop the order becoming public. It won a brief restraining order, and the court refused to extend it. The case ended in August 2021.

Norton told the Arizona Republic he fully relocated to Arizona in 2017. From September 2020 through February 2021 he made political contributions totaling $45,600 that were filed with a Kansas City, Missouri address. His campaign said the contributions were written from an old checkbook carrying his Missouri address and that he was seeking revisions. Some were amended to a Phoenix address between May and July 2021, beginning two days after the story ran; others were never amended and still show Kansas City today. More than $15,000 still show a Kansas City address on fec.gov as of 9/20/2026; $45,600 was filed that way originally, and some of those filings have since been amended.
